Joe Tirre - President

I have been a police officer for Ontario PD for approx. 24 yrs. I previously served in the Marine Corps for 4 yrs and served during Operation Desert Shield/Storm in 1991. I was hired by the City of Ontario and graduated the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Academy class #107 in 1992. I am currently assigned to the COPS Division.

I have been previously assigned to the COPS Division, the Detective Bureau, and the Patrol Division. I also served as an Explorer advisor for 10 yrs.

I have served the OPOA Board of Directors for approx. 8 yrs during three different election cycles. I have served as a past President for 3 yrs along with currently serving as the President.

Bill Maxson - Treasurer

I am Officer Bill Maxson. I have been with Ontario Police Department since April 2004. Prior to coming to OPD, I was a Deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and prior to that, I was a Combat Medic with the U.S. Army.

Currently, I am a Patrol Officer for OPD and assigned as the Ag Preserve / Rural Crime Prevention Task Force Officer, which means I work in the rural section of our city and work primarily in the dairies and with our Dairymen and Farmers.

For the past 6 years, I have served as a Board Member for our Police Officers Association and have served as the Treasurer for our Association during this time.

Steve Hurst - Sgt at Arms

I have been with the Ontario Police Department for approximately 30 years. I started as a Cadet in 1986 and after 2 ½ years I attended the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Academy class #95. I worked patrol for my first 7 years, then was assigned to traffic as a Motor Officer in 1996. After 7 years in traffic I was promoted to Corporal in 2003 and returned to patrol as a Training Officer. After numerous trainees I was selected to return to Traffic as a Grant Manager working a DUI grant for 2 years. After the grant I returned to patrol to train again and in 2009 was promoted to Detective. I worked several different assignments in the Detective Bureau until 2012 at which time I was assigned to traffic as the Traffic Detective. I have worked backgrounds as an extra duty assignment, have been polygraph examiner since 2005 and am trained in Accident Reconstruction. I have served on the Ontario Police Officer’s Association Board of Directors for approximately 4 years and plan to remain on the board for at least another term. I enjoy being able to work towards the needs of our members and strive to make decisions that are in the best interest of the membership as a whole.

Tony Bolanos - Board Member/PAC

Tony Bolanos joined the Ontario Police Department in 1995. He was elected onto the board of the Ontario Police Officers Association in 2008 and has held the position of PAC Chairman ever since. He has been married for the past 30 years, to a wonderful woman and has four awesome kids and one awesome grandson.
